Thanks for that info. but if the feature I was looking for already exists but this report is still open this request must be about something slightly different or is it?
Not a big fan of needing to right click to find things, and if the reporter also missed this feature then perhaps it needs to be shown in the user interface in another more discoverable way.

Not sure what the exactly original submitter intended (hopefully he will clarify) it seems unlikely he meant a dictionary to check if words are valid, more likely he was hoping to lookup words and learn their meaning so as to better remember them in future. There are some very odd words in scrabble I wouldn't have even believed were English (zoftig?).

Both Synfig and gimp[1] use icons only on tabs rather (whereas programs like photoshop or flash do have text lables).

First let me say that although the standard about dialog is dull it is deliberately dull and provides useful information. I'd expect a nice big Synfig graphic (or animation even) could be used to liven it up a little without sacrificing the dull but helpful functionality.

best to use standard check box menu items, and to change items to use labels like "Show Grid" rather than "Toggle Grid"
[best to avoid trying any changing of the labels to show state because that unpredictable. no particular benefit and would break screen readers in the worst case. always use standard widgets unless you have a very very good reason to do otherwise.].

I think it would be better to name documents something like "Animation 1" or "Project 1" rather than using the uninformative "Untitled1". (There lack of a space between the word untitled and the number is what intially drew my eye to this minor problem.)

in terms of accessibility and catering to users with pens and tablets Synfig will want to try and reduce the reliance on right click, and a menu bar will help in that regard too.
