  • Comment: “Cleared” appears to be incorrect, as is “statement”

If I am telling kmymoney that the balance of 1550 on 2009-6-30 is correct, then it should not be second-guessing me. This also means that it must not currently be doing anything with that reconciliation “starting balance”. It should either use it, presumably to calculate the delta of the reconciling statement for comparison against cleared transactions (and trust me that it is correct) or...

  • Comment: Cannot move transactions

*facepalm* apparently it was indeed right there in my face. Thank you!

  • Comment: “Cleared” appears to be incorrect, as is “statement”

I’m afraid that including reconciled transactions is unhelpful to finding mistakes in entering transactions. From the manual: “A transaction is cleared when it matches the transaction on your statement.” Transactions which do not appear on the statement are irrelevant. It should not be necessary to clear/reconcile every single transaction prior to the current statement in order to...

  • Comment: Cannot move transactions

OK, and how do I do that? I’ve selected all transactions, but there’s no option I can see to move them to a different account. There’s nothing in any of the menus, especially the “Transactions” menu where I’d expect to see such a thing. I don’t see it in the manual. Is it somewhere right there in my face and I’m just blind to it?.

  • tab order is wrong in “Add account” wizard, “Account” page

Pressing tab in the Account page (second page) moves keyboard focus in a strange order.

  • Comment: “Cleared” appears to be incorrect, as is “statement”

I’ve attached a file filled with bogus numbers which demonstrates the problem. It shows a balance of $1550 as of 2009-6-30, and a balance of $1470 as of 2009-9-25. However, reconciling a (hypothetical) statement for 2009-9-30 showing a beginning balance of $1550 and ending of $1470 gives a value of 1,450.00 for "Cleared" when only the entries between 2009-6-30 and 2009-9-30 are marked as...

  • Comment: Cannot move transactions

But if I want to move the transactions to a different account, I cannot do that by editing it within the account; it only allows me to change the category in that view, not the account. The account is only shown from the categories view, but I cannot edit it there. The manual doesn’t seem to say anything about changing the account of a transaction or moving transactions from one account to...

  • Comment: Cannot move transactions

Certainly: go to categories, and open a ledger for a category that has transactions in it. Click on a transaction. The only button available is “Delete” – not “Edit” which would allow changing the “Transfer from”/“Transfer to” location.

  • Comment: Cannot change account type

This is partly a dupe of #1359963, but nothing to do with gnucash like that one is.

  • Cannot change account type

It is currently impossible to change the type of an existing account. e.g. checking cannot be changed to savings. This means that if you enter a bunch of transactions into an account and then realize that it’s the wrong type, you have to recreate the entire account and re-enter all the transactions (because you can’t simply move them to the new account...)
