Under Fedora 11, I was able to rebuild the vtk packages from the Fedora 10 vtk-5.0.4 source rpms (see, for instance, http://fedora.secsup.org/linux/releases/10/Everything/source/SRPMS/vtk-5.0.4-25.fc10.src.rpm), and was then able to compile octaviz 0.4.7 against the old vtk and vtk-data.

Hi,
I had trouble compiling the debug portions of the library due to an undefined _syscall0 error (I'm using a 2.6.22.14 fedora 6 kernel), so I changed the gettid call to a macro using syscall (it now compiles and passes make test):

Bummer about vtk 5 :(
After enabling CMAKE_VERBOSE_MAKEFILE=ON, I see that the error above (with the bogus path) is comming from vtkWrapOctave. I'll poke some more before pestering anyone.

Could someone tell me why octaviz uses cmake? I've seen the explination "because VTK uses cmake", but it's not clear to me (still) why cmake is necessary as a build system. After VTK is installed, don't we simply include the header files and link to the libraries? In theory, couldn't I just do some autofoo to get the proper CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS set...

I've got both Fedora Core 4 and 5 boxes that I'm trying to compile octaviz on and I am having trouble right out of the gate(!).

I'm trying to use this driver on a PowerPC-based vme board (a motorola mvme2432 to be specific), and I am booting a 2.4.19 kernel (for now). I can compile the 2.4 driver, but I get the following error when trying to load it:
