Rationale: I prefer white text on black backgrounds on computer screens as I think it's less eyestrain. However if I write journals blackboard style (black paper, white text), then it drains your printers toner very quickly.

Denis told me the glade trickery he used to generate the GUI. I'm updated the patch to include a menu option that lets you set the ruling parameters at runtime. (You can safely undo/redo your ruling changes too.)

If xournal (or worse still your XServer) crashes, this patch emergency saves any unsaved files. The files are saved under a unique name in your home directory (esave-DATE-TIME-XXXXXX.xoj) so that you don't accidentally overwrite anything. You can view or delete these files later at your convenience.
NOTE: This only emergency saves on X errors. I sometimes get them after waking my computer up...
