Since you cannot seem to replicate this:
Compile test.tex:

Open in Skim, then execute:
/Applications/Skim.app/Contents/SharedSupport/displayline 5 test.pdf test.tex
Instant unusable viewer.

Using latex with PDFSync, often the display within Skin is unusable. It will not scroll, it will not update, and will not redraw when resized. This seems to occur if the cursor was not on a line of text when latex was run. Using latest TextMate for latex editing and Skim 1.2.7
Only workaround is to close window and reopen using the open-recent, which displays the first page, somewhat...
