We do not seem to be indexing "publisher_item" elements which is a mechanism for recording publisher-specific identifiers such as "article numbers", etc. For instance see metadata for:
doi:10.1029/2007GL030000
Which includes:
L11706
However, a search on "L11706" will yield nothing...

It looks like they might have radically changed the default template for authoring a post. Net result is that the plugin appears in a very inconvenient location (at bottom of page) and it doesn't seem to work (e.g. clicking on "find" button doesn't seem to execute anything).

Seem to be timeouts between locating DOI in Lucene and lookup of metadata in DB.

Make escaping of colons intelligent. That is- if colon immediately follows a legitimate lucene field name- leave it.
