Which java virtual machine are you using ? freecol does not work with gcj. Try using openjdk or sun's java: use for instance:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/bin/java
or
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.14/bin/java
instead of simply java in your command-line. Hopefully, that should help...

Hello guys,
I'm currently into packaging jsymphonic for Debian, because I think you've done a great job with this program, and Im very glad to have it at any rate.
In order to achieve that, I need to build jsymphonic from source. It builds find, but I simply can't get it to work properly: no graphical UI shows up.
