Changing this into a bug report, since it is a bug. However, the bug is not actually in Task Coach itself, but in the underlying graphical toolkit (wxPython). I'll raise a bug report there as well.

Task Coach connects to http://www.taskcoach.org (which resolves to the IP address 89.255.61.210) to download a small file with the latest version number in it, so it can warn you when a new version is available. See http://www.taskcoach.org/version.txt. Task Coach sends no information to the website other than what normally gets sent when you connect to a website with a web browser...

To better investigate the bug you reported we'd like you to attach the file 'taskcoach.exe.log' to this bug report. The taskcoach.exe.log file is generated by Task Coach when something unexpected happens. If present, it is located in the folder where you installed Task Coach. This is usually 'C:\Program Files\TaskCoach'.

A fix was made and checked into the source code repository of Task Coach. The fix will be part of the next release. You will get another notification when that release is available with the request to install the new release and confirm that your issue has indeed been fixed.
