You need to give your patch to the wget maintainers but this is something to consider for the mingwPORT of wget.

Keith, this is controlled by a value in the MinGW.ini file, IIRC.
Raskòlnikov, 5.1.6 is the newest version of the installer.

Too bad, the open source community could use worthy developers. This comment tells me you're not a serious developer. Every project worth its salt has some form of version control system. CVS is the oldest open source VCS and is used in many shops.
