hash is a mathematical calculation to ensure data integrity. if it fails, data is retransmitted. should be a limit on retransmissions, but the end result is you ain't got jack.

i'm doing ktorrent on fc6 with 20k speed when att isn't putting a choke hold on me. lot less overhead than azureus; a little less slick; it was install & go; i haven't had to !@#$ with config (yet). try some 5 digit port numbers (50,000 range). if that doesn't help, may be time to move on. that's what i've gathered from a lot of google & wiki.

i don't think you can ignore. take a look at demonoid.com. the start of "upload torrent" gives you a valid url.

it's just looking for a compiler, just about any compiler. if you installed your system from cd, you can probably get it from there. i do redhat 9 (old) and eventually pulled nearly everthing off the install cds. never know... i found it under install/remove. check under system tools, applications, etc. it's best to find one there; otherwise, you have to figure out where you stick the one...

getting close to the anniversary of my last reply. i gave up & went to auzureus - something about the blue frog. life has been liveable since. i'd like to think i'm smarter now, but will let ctorrent lay for now.

i think i have successfully installed ctorrent since i can start it, but short of closing the window, i don't know how to stop it. should i be concerned?.

i'm using 2706, but downloading seems awfully slow. i'm using ctorrent because it was the only program i could get to install. i picked a 55mb torrent to see if this thing works, but it sure is crawling - looks like i've got 217 pieces out of 1239 after 4.5 hours using slow dsl.
