oh, i should mention that ਅ, ੳ, and ੲ seem to be the only punjabi characters affected, and they are distinct from the rest of the characters because they represent independent vowel sounds that aren't attached to a consonant. all of the consonant characters can acquire vowel markings properly. hopefully that gives a debugging hint. examples that break: ੳੂ , ਅਾ , ੲਿ.

I'm having a problem with punjabi characters in mnemosyne, and i'm using SCIM for input...but i think my problem might not be SCIM-related. What's happening is that i try to type some characters, but vowel symbols can't be added to certain letters. In mnemosyne this shows up as a letter plus a square box with the vowel underneath instead of having the vowel underneath that letter.
