In Hibernate 3.3.1 the use of cglib is optional, you can use Javassist instead. The problem is that Gilead uses beanlib, which has an UnEnhancer class that imports the net.sf.cglib.proxy.Enhancer class.
This means that even though you do not use it, you must have cglib (and its dependencies, such as ASM) in your classpath, or else you get a ClassNotFoundException.

Using the tutorial on your website as a guide, I am implementing Gilead with the BlazeDS adapter. I am using the latest Gilead with Beanlib 3.3.0Beta21 and Hibernate 3.3 with Javassist.

I am fairly new to Flex but I've managed to get BlazeDS working with Hibernate and Guice ( BTW I created the guice-blazeds project to help with that - see http://code.google.com/p/guice-blazeds/ ). My next step is to integrate Gilead into my project too, so thanks for all your hard work on that!
