Using the oscar protocol, messages are never received by the recipient before Gaim finally detects a connection timeout.
I don't know how much control there is over this, but at least once per day my internet connection times out (I imagine due to an IP address change or something). During the time before Gaim realises, I can still send messages to ICQ contacts, however, the messages never...

Okay... but I would assume Firefox, for instance, would use
the same system calls yet it has no problems after I switch
networks.

Hi, I'm using kernel 2.6.14 and lirc from CVS. After some nasty libtool problems involving lt_decl_varnames I finally compiled the modules. However, when I try to load them I get:
[ 97.999519] lirc_dev: disagrees about version of symbol copy_to_user
[ 98.006354] lirc_dev: Unknown symbol copy_to_user
Any help?.

Great. So the problem was that you couldn't resolve the IP to homebox? I'm having trouble understanding your setup...
And it is working without the signed applet? As far as I know, you only need to sign an applet when you want it to connect to a server other than the one it was downloaded from.

You need to specify your external IP address, rather than "homebox." Computers on the internet can't resolve "homebox" to anything. That's why adding it to the hosts file on the external machine works (it's then able to resolve the address).

digidemon,
I still can't reproduce this problem. What browsers and versions of Java are you using?

That's great. For the record, I had tried several times to
upload the original images and resulting PostScript, but SF
seems to reject files of that size with the error "Invalid
filename." The thumbnails I attached were only examples of
the visible corruption...I'll try to be more clear next
time...Thanks.

I've tried to upload the resulting PostScript file, however
I keep getting the error "invalid filename", so it can be
found here:

Here is the JPG version. Printing this file causes the same
corruption.
