I'm guessing that you have some files missing, or misplaced, but it's hard to know without having more details. What I do know is that I am not able to reproduce the problem you describe. I'll leave this in a pending state to see if you have more information to provide, but likely I'll be closing the issue since it appears to be isolated to your installation of the game.

I have followed Pascal for 30 years, and the Free Pascal movement over the past decade has been strong and widespread. It's a viable alternative to other programming languages, and offers a powerful link back to legacy code. I concur that it is deserving of it's own category.

I have never seen this before on the Mac, after 100's of beta testing. You said you are using the latest Aleph One engine. That may be the problem. How about when you use the AlephOne engine that was released with EMR?.

The error you are getting is a Lua error message. The thing about Lua is that one error will cause all of the remaining Lua code to be ignored. This would explain why you cannot pick up the sword, as the actual "pick up" is controlled by Lua, and if Lua isn't working, you'll just bump into the sword with nothing happening.
Unfortunately, I have no experiencing play testing on Linux, only...

I have verified that the player *can* pick up the Excalibur sword. It's picked up by way of Lua, so if you are unable to pick it up, there is something wrong with your installation of EMR (e.g., the Lua isn't working). Have you tried restarting the level?.
