Apologies for the slow reply - I've been on holiday!
Including port number and protocol in the session synchronisation is a very sensible suggestion - just not one I'd thought of ( all my sessions are SSH ).
The automatic sync is also a good idea - but probably needs a bit more thought and work to implement.
I'll open feature requests for both of these.

As for the memory usage - I don't think I can do anything about that - see this discussion
