Just to add my voice to the chorus, this issue is absolutely *huge* when attempting to use jEdit on a Mac laptop. I hacked the new plugin into place (which at least allows jEdit to start), but this issue makes scrolling all-but unusable. I would vote +1 for just disabling Shift+Scroll on Mac.
Until then (or a preference to that effect) I guess I'm compiling jEdit from source.
