Guess-helper found the configuration no trouble. Reads the correct settings from the bios using the --dirtectisa (-A) option.
Only thing it didn't guess was the upper_method which I set to intel and everything was good.
Note: different board and BIOS from the vanilla P4P800's.

Right, fixed (my) form of the problem. It stems from the GTK Accessibility tools I've got installed. Gnopernicus, Dasher and so on. I don't need them per-see, they're just interesting tools for me to use.
Simply disabling them from starting at run-time (in Debian 4.x this is under 'Assistive Technology Support' in the profiles menu) or just un-installing Gnopernucus (that's the main one that...
