When you manually try and add friends of friends it lists people that are friends of your friends. Not every friend in that list is online. So say you have a list of 30 people that your adding that doesn't necessarily mean they are all online. It may be that only 1 out of those 30 are on. Also keep in mind some of those people may not be port forwarding correctly. So your friend request to...

Well if your starting over first go to DNS settings, type in your DNS address click apply then go generate a new buddy code. Have your brother do the same thing. Then exchange buddy codes and connect. Alliance should then start using your DNS addresses. You can check this by right mouse clicking on your brothers name and viewing his connection address. If it shows a DNS then it's working...

  • Followup: RE: Dropped Connection between 2 computers

Turning DNS on only applies to new users connecting to you. For people like your brother who are already connected to you, you have to manually edit each others host names in the buddy list. If you don't then Alliance will continue using your IPs.

  • Followup: RE: Testing my internet connection never finishes

Tod are you using the latest beta or are you using v1.0.6? You might want to download and use the latest beta. Second, did you port forward the port that your copy of Alliance is using? @thesentry - correct, connection buddy codes do not contain DNS addresses. The way Bastvera designed it as follows. buddy codes are still ip and port. User adds a friend's code and Alliance adds it to...

  • Followup: RE: Code sharing -

Correct, if you only have Tom, Mike, and Jim in your friends list then they're the only ones that will see the text you type in the chat. If you want other people to connect you have to e-mail / IM them your code. If you want to make your network open to everyone you could also post it on the Alliance Network List http://ordway.ath.cx/alliance/.

  • Followup: RE: Code sharing -

    1) not by default. To turn this on so that your generate buddy code can be reused multiple times go into view>options>security & system tray and uncheck "security codes I make can only be used once". Then go generate a new buddy code. After that, the buddy code should work for as long as you want. 2) posting your code in the chat is only see-able by people already on your friends list....so...

  • Followup: RE: Dropped Connection between 2 computers

To set dynDNS up just go to view>options>advanced and type in your DNS added where it says "your DNS address". Then you have to regenerate your buddy code and reinvite your friend to your client. If you don't wish to remove your friend and re-invite him you can also have him right mouse click on your name in his client and click "edit hostname". In there you can remove the IP with a DNS...
