Not sure if this is just me - I've just started using FTE (it looks like the first editor I can associate with :D) - but I seem unable to bind CTRL+S to save files, like I'm used to. I have
key [C+S] { FileSave }
inside ui_k_fte.fte (I'm using the FTE UI and keybindings), and yet CTRL+S doesn't produce a happy "Wrote [...]." I know that I'm doing *something* right though, since...

Hm, I didn't mention this in my last post... how hard would/could these GTK and QT ports be?
I've not used C for very long - although I understand the basics about pointers, have used PHP which is very C-like, and have already written a few rather comprehensive programs using Xlib, so I'm not a complete beginner - and I haven't used any kind of toolkit, or involved myself in a group project...

I see what you mean.
Heh, I never thought beyond the code the menu, not the dialog box itself, and strongly agree that it would take a lot of Xlib code to get a file open dialog working, and then loads more to make it remotely interoperable with ICCCM and EMWH standards and support what users would expect from such a dialog. So yeah, not a good idea. :p
And I can see what you mean about a...

I see.
As I'm on Linux and I'm using the X11 version and not the GTK version, I don't have an actual menu.
Might you accept patches for the feature I speak of and/or some Xlib menu code for the core X11 version (not using Xaw, standalone code) if I get bored one day and feel like writing them?

Currently, the only way to remount a disk that's been ejected from Mini vMac is to drag and drop it back onto the emulator, or if, as in my case, the user doesn't prefer drag and drop, restart the emulator completely.
I propose a way to solve this problem: a new Control Mode or switch that lists perhaps 10 of the most recently ejected disks (or perhaps 15 - that looks like the most that would...

I'd like to duplicate the Finder zoom animation outside of System, but don't exactly know where to start in terms of finding a reliable way to see how the real Finder plays this animation.
I was thinking of perhaps slowing down the animation speed to one cycle every 4 or so seconds, but that would certainly try my patience while I actually try to doubleclick on the icon to play back the...

Wow, thanks for that interesting tidbit of info. And thanks for your help so far. :D
Well, I'm not too sure what the "normal" version of Mini vMac (the one that takes a ROM with the name 'vMac.ROM') emulates, but I can run System 0.85/1.1 on it fine, and the ImportFL disk and the executable inside appears to also work just fine (it will import files when dropped), so I assume it's a...

Hi there.
I see. I found those first two links myself, but didn't realize they contained software that would work/expect them to work with the oldest versions of System that seem to be available.
So I take it that if I get MPW into System 6/7.x or OS 8.x and get a basic app going, I should be able to expect the app to run on System 1.1 too?

I didn't intend to flood posts like this, sorry. I hope this is the last one. :P
But I was wondering... I have sourcecode, but what about a compiler? My host system is Linux, if that helps. I don't really want to have to run the compiler inside Mini vMac, but if I do, I do.
I also have Basilisk II and SheepShaver, and most versions of System including 6.0.8 and 7.5, as well as Mac OS 8 and...
