This seems to be fixed. I haven't tested what effect the switch from the euclidean to the city block distance metric had on the general seam placement, though. I assume that it doesn't make a big difference.

I have looked at that a little more, and after recompiling with -DDEBUG_NEAREST_FEATURE_TRANSFORM and -DDEBUG_SEAM_LINE, I found that the twin seam line is produced by vectorizeSeamLine() at a small black point behind the main distance transform. See the attached enblend-nft-output2.tif image, pixel coordinates 132,120. Is this a bug of the nft? The seam line creation somehow finds a new seam at...
