Currently, selecting the file in the bottom portion of a split-window display uses the pull-down list at the bottom of the main window. The file list is exclusively for the top portion.
As an alternate interface, which could co-exist with what's there now, I suggest making command-click (or some other modifier-click) also load the given file into the bottom, instead of top, window. A nice...
