    AFAIK, FreeXer isn't an ssh client. If it is, it's probably calling a Cygwin SSH program, or a 3rd party program like PuTTY. Check the configuration for PuTTY in its GUI; otherwise, bounce around in the cygwin folder looking for a file like "ssh_config", where you should be able to change the port number. HTH, dalecosp.

    Start the XWin server on your Windows machine first; an icon should appear in the system tray area. PuTTY should be configured with X forwarding. PuTTY is an unrelated third-party program and will not automagically do anything for you. When PuTTY is called, load the proper config for the remote host (which should have X-fwd as I said) and log into the PuTTY terminal in your accustomed...

    Configure PuTTY to remember ... generally, this involves some clicking around on the PuTTY graphical interface and then saving the profile with an associated hostname or ip address. You can then access the saved settings for this host by loading that hosts' configuration from the front menu. HTH, dalecosp.

    This is not a "fax server", and has little to do with faxing. "FreeXer" is an implementation of the so-called "X Windows System". With FreeXer, you can run Unix-like/Linux programs in graphical mode on your Windows desktop. HTH. dalecosp.
