Sorry for the late response. Fixed in version 3.0 and on. You can either eliminate the need for a password or define your own.
BTW, to answer your question, "What's the secret to making this work?", the answer is "secret". That was the (hard-coded) password.

Hmmm... Sorry about the late response. For those who are
interested, the password on earlier versions was secret.
Literally, "secret". I should have included it in the
file notes, so sorry about that. Anyway, Version 3.0 and
on allow the password to be held in a config file, or
(optionally) eliminated altogether. It was only ever
meant to hold...
