Update: on the machine which has problems, the printer's serial number isn't returned by hp-info; on the other machine (which can print), it is displayed. On both machines, I then get the error "Model query failed". A USB problem perhaps?.

Trying to print from CUPS on a Debian system over USB with hplip driver. The test page fails to print, the only visible hint (even on debug log level) being an error about "printmode mismatch with pen, tray etc". The two daemons are running (hpiod/hpssd), the printer is detected (lsusb and hp-probe) - it just completely refuses to function when attached to this Debian machine...

Going to <a

no longer works - instead, you get a 501 Not
Implemented error. Replicated under Mozilla Firebird
and wget.
Substituting a %2A (to escape the * character) solves
the problem - but Slashcode is generating unescaped
links (in new JE notification messages).
Suggested fix: either revert whatever...
