You initialise it via the efax-gtk settings dialog, by putting the relevant string in the "Initialization params" ("Parametri di Inizializzazione") box.
I am afraid I don't know what that string is. I suggest you ask on whatever forum supports your modem.

It looks as if your software modem is not accepting flow control. This might be a problem with the driver for the modem, or it might be that it requires some initialisation strings in order to initialise it.
