Sorry, looks like I issued a new bug. This is supposed to be an answer to issue 2809535. I thought I answered there, but a new issue was created instead. Sorry!

I got hold of 3.3.8 in a contributed repository, so I am closer to the latest release now.
My tests:
Test1:
#!/bin/bash
dar -V
echo "Dar exit code is: $?"
Result Test1:
dar version 2.3.8, Copyright (C) 2002-2052 Denis Corbin
Long options support : YES
Using libdar 4.4.3 built with compilation time options:

The first command-line produces an archive, so apparently it syntax is OK and the exit code should be zero. When I make a syntax error on purpose (like the one with absolute path) then it returns zero and does not produce an archive (the error message is printed to standard error output). So it seems that exit code 0 and 1 got swapped.

Additional information:
Apparently when I have an error in the command line it returns exit code 0. I had the following error return that code:
Parse error on command line (or included files): Cannot add an absolute path
Please either fix this bug or update the man page on this subject.

I don't like to check this with the latest version as version 2.3.6 can be easily installed in my Suse 11.1 distribution.
One example of what produces the syntax error:
dar -c /mnt/nas/com2.mysql.full.20090620.192919 -R / -D -y5 -m 150 -g var/lib/mysql
But whatever I tried, it consistently returns exit code 1. I don't think dar is supposed to run with that error code and what is really...

I'm talking about version 2.1.0.3.5.10 release 21.11. When i export the command line version of a backup set that contains include folders (together with excluded folders) than the include folders are just put on the command line. When executed dar considers this a syntax error. The include folders need the -g flag. Please fix this in following releases.

I created a reseller account and set password for it. I
could not log-in as reseller. I looked at the admin
table and discovered that different hash is used for
user and admin passwords (admin and reseller password
were identitical but the hashes were different). When I
edited the hash manually to become equal as the admin
password, then I could login as reseller. Same bug
applies to...

Looking at the dates of this thread, they are all very recent. You speak about debugged versions, but they are not uploaded; the latest version is of 2003!! I don't like to re-invent any wheels. Would there be a copy available without the bugs you found?
I could spend some spare time helping you to debug.

Well I hope that my contributions were of some help. I am sorry that I cannot give more time to it, I will keep it in mind though.

It was back-end0.7.1.3.tar.gz. I am not familiar with cvs, but I could learn it. But I am afraid that I wouldn't have the time either. I was looking for a CMS with certain caracteristics and bumped into back-end until I had that problem with translating the templates. At the moment I am looking at Drupal as well and neither that one is without translation problems, but they are less severe...
