From CDex 1.70 beta 4, the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL
Security Update is installed by default and included within the installer.

Hi,
I have checked and confirm the bug with a clean Windows XP SP2 installation.
Installing the vcredist_x86.exe, which was mentioned above resolves the problem.

Although it is the same security issue: security bulletin MS09-035
The update provides more files, e.g. MFC which CDex relies on and they come with the update above...

eric9002 there is a problem with older visual studio redistributable files, which are not equal with the files used during compilation of CDex.
Microsoft did make some security updates to Visual Studio in the past.
