Thank you for your comment. The 1000.11-1000.10 problem was a numerical issue raised by a conversion specific to galculator to fit display requirements. That one could be resolved by tuning the corresponding conversion code. However, the 1*(0,5-0,4-0,1) inaccuracy is a problem inherent to IEEE floating point numbers. octave, matlab all give you the same result.

In galculator.desktop of latest galculator, the icon file has been renamed to galculator.png.
galculator.desktop.in still has a "_Comment" line, that is for i18n, generated galculator.desktop has localized correct Comment entries.

It's been some time ... this problem most likely occurs when you change your locales after starting galculator for the first time. as a fix, you can either delete $HOME/.galculator as a whole or remove the [Constants] section from that file.
