well hey, I'm willing to try a few. I could also send some that you could record as test-cases for later -- if that's possible. Even something simple like 白人看不懂 would show whether it works (looks the same_ or fails (gives some kooky garbage characters)

buddy-in my MSN (allanc@chickenandporn.com) -- which is also my jabber -- and I can send you chinese from my MSN through your gateway, and send the same thing via Jabber for comparison. Basically, if it looks like characters, it's good; if it looks like symbols and arrows, the sky is falling :)

Communicating from Adium/Jabber -> Openfire/Kraken -> MSN, somewhere in there the multibyte characters get busted and come out as trash -- perhaps treating them as two single-byte characters during the handoff. Adium/Jabber -> Openfire/IMGateway -> MSN works, so that's why I'm filing this as a Kraken issue.
Just need to test with either a Chinese/Simplified contact via MSN.
