In the new Bibus 1.5.x is indeed an option to back-up and restore user databases and settings. You can find it under the "Tools" menu.
My advice: do both! (if you have indeed Bibus 1.5). Back up your "Application data" yourself AND use the built-in Bibus function (since it is a new functionality there may be some glitches, although I do not expect problems)

Currently, Bibus 1.5 is still a "release candidate" (beta testing) version. This is probably the reason that there is no ready-to-use package available.
It may, however, be possible to install the .tar.gz version alongside your current 1.4.3-3, but it is not advisable to use it to directly upgrade.
In principle, you can unpack the .tar.gz archive to a directory in your home...
