  • Testing Trading Strategies

Is there a way to define trading rules and evaluate their performance using historical quote data? Also, does iTrade know how to download company historical financial data such as the P/E ratio?.

  • How To Refresh Buddy Icons

Is there some magic trick to refreshing your buddy icon? Pidgin keeps using the very first icon I set for every account, and has never refreshed it, even if I remove the icon or upload a new one. It's very frustrating.

  • Comment: Windows Hibernate Crashes Linux

Note, you can hibernate Windows from inside TSClient by running this from the Windows command line: %windir%\system32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState Hibernate.

  • Followup: RE: knowledge about probabability in Cyc?

No, not to my knowledge. Cyc only deals with discrete rules (e.g. cat is an animal). It doesn't include any examples of usage that you could use to model the occurances of when "cat" refers to an animal, verses a person's name, verses a piece of construction equipment. Personally, I find this to be Cyc's fatal shortcoming, and it'll likely remain that way. <Insert rant...

  • Windows Hibernate Crashes Linux

Steps to reproduce: 1. Use tsclient to connect to WinXP. 2. Hibernate WinXP. 3. Notice tsclient freezes/crashes and completely locks up the Gnome desktop, requiring a hard reboot.

  • Individual Desktops with Dual Monitors?

I'm trying to remote desktop into a Windows machine from a Linux machine using TSClient. Both machines are dual display where each monitor is an individual desktop. I'm able to RD into the Windows box just fine, and TSClient's fullscreen mode takes up both monitors in Linux as expected. The problem is TSClient creates just one big spanning desktop instead of individual desktops. Is there...

  • Comment: mplayerplugin leaves zombies

I'm not sure it's an identical problem, but I experience something similar. I'm on Fedora 8, and whenever I view media with mplayerplug-in in Firefox, and then close the tab, Firefox completely locks up until I kill the corresponding instance of mplayer running in the background. This isn't technically a zombie, since it's killable, but it's still annoying all the same.
