A warning is now displayed, but for unrelated reasons I have chosen to discontinue GIF support in the latest version of Seashore 0.2.0.

This should be fixed in the next version of Seashore (0.2.0). Thanks for this report it was a very important bug to catch and, fortunately, not too difficult.
