Hello, moree007.
I tried to reproduce the problem that you are having on my Vista machine using the same JDK and version of DrJava. However, I was not able to experience the OutOfMemoryError that you initially report. I was successfully able to convert a PNG file to greyscale.
In order to stabilize this issue for you, could you please attach a ZIP file of the complete source code you are using...

1) Does Ctrl+Alt+Pause work in this case? Windows traps Ctrl+Alt+Del and Synergy never sees it.

If you re-installed Vista, you will need to re-install your JDK before DrJava will work.

I stand corrected. It's amazing what one can learn for the implementor of a subsystem.

DrJava has to add hooks into your program so that the debugger can function. Although you may not be actively debugging, the debugger is still active in order to allow you to debug unexpected exceptions.

These two seem related:

Perhaps the temporary fix in that ticket will work here too.
