For me it was a simple case of going to the Graphics card options (right click on desktop etc) and disabling its hotkeys - no problems since.

I had the same problem with my new Win7 box - turned out to be the graphics driver grabbing the Ctrl+Alt+cursor keys to change the screen orientation!!
Everyone seems to be grabbing hotkeys these days so I have no idea what we are supposed to do :-(.

The log is extremely helpful (to me anyway :-)) and I think there is a common thread of issues all relating to Windows 7 & Vista UAC - I could easily be wrong but fortunately its relatively easy to find out. Can you please try the following:
\- Quit VirtuaWin
\- Right click on the VirtuaWn exe or start link and select 'Run as administrator'
Does this fix your problem(s)? If so at least...

If you use:
\#+Left::PostMessage, 1049, 0, -1025, , VirtuaWinMainClass
\#+Right::PostMessage, 1049, 0, -1026, , VirtuaWinMainClass
The window & VW will move to the next/prev desktoop, I tend to find this much more useful.

I've not seen or heard of an issue like this, the only thing I can suggest is to enable VirtuaWin's event logging (Setup -> Expert, click on Explore config too so that you can locate the log file), reproduce the issue and email me the log.
No promises, the log is not likely to contain anything useful but its the only suggestion I have at the minute.

I fail to see the point of such an option. When you exit and restart VW it will put them all on desktop 1 (apart from the few with an auto assign window rule), so all this option would achieve is starting on an empty desktop most of the time.
To make this option of any real use, VW would need to restore all open windows to their last desktop too - this cannot be done. There was a long thread...
