http://qdvdauthor.sourceforge.net/data/buttons.tar.bz2 contains files with spaces which is not a problem but does not look very nice. When I install qdvdauthor I replace the spaces with a hyphen as this seems to be the most common word separator used for the other button files. I am doing this like below:
OIFS=$IFS; IFS=$'\n'
for i in $(find buttons -depth -name '* *')
do mv ${i} $(dirname...

This results in the wrong path to the menuslide. I have a diff attached.
Grepping through the entire source results in more typos like this but all seem to be in comments.

I tried to create an ebuild for qdvdauthor on Gentoo Linux because latest official version is 1.2.0. One reason for this may indeed be the build system which makes it really hard to get it working. I had to do many things manually and work around some issues to put something together that is now working almost as intended. Maybe it is a good idea to switch to autotools or cmake as build system.

Yes at the moment i am using 1.2.9. Unfortunately 1.3.2 is not available at the moment within Gentoo. Though there is a bug about bumping it. As far as I know 1.3.2 does not support Gentoo Linux too, or am I wrong?

At the moment only one cd and one dvd device could be defined. What about adding support for multiple cd/dvd devices? It is a bit annoying when you have to change the device in the settings every time when you want to use the other one.
So change the settings to allow more devices. And probably make the gui look like this:
Open -> VCD/CD/DVD -> Select Drive
