Just a very small thing. There are typos in the output of OSM2GpsMid (Version 0.5.09, CVS 28.09.2009). Examples:
> Found 3423 placenames
> found 44325 names 42114 canon
I'd prefer all new lines to start with capital letter.
> remove 36698 dupLicate Nodes
> remove 58358 unused Nodes
The dupLicate Nodes has an capital L ...

If gnuplot prints
#Surface 0 of 1 surfaces
in the output than it could not read the input data... hence something in extractdata.pl or tail is going mad. try to remove the first 6 lines by hand in an text editor.

Have you tried to delete the first seven lines in extract.txt by hand, not using tail command?.

Hello, yes it is possible - nearly everthing is possible :-) just edit the style file with the editor of your choise and correct colors and icons of every icon to match those of OSM. You may also add and remove items which you like to see / don`t see on GpsMid.

during one of my last trips I compared my GpsMid on the SE G705 phone with a Garmin GPS unit. We had perfect conditions and GPS reception (on deck of a ship in the middle of a big lake, constant speed of the vessel, clear sky), but the two units showed a speed difference of about 10%. Unfortunately I do not have a raw GPS data log file, but I have the GPX file in case it helps.

I compared the style-file.dtd from CVS of 09.09.2009 and my old one. There was a difference in the "maxSpeedTemplates" definitions. I replaced the old one...
Next I looked for "borderColor" in the high-style.xml, but it does not contain any such definition... So I do not have an official style with borderColor. Is there a file to test against? As said...

Thanks for the answer. The first solution is fine for me. I tested it and it works. Side effect is that names get very long and sometimes out of the display. Is it possible to wrap text of the alternative name to second line?
To create a special icons is no way for to go for such a lot of possibilities. Maybe if you like pizza alot ;-)
