It is quite normal that you don't hear any sound when reeborg is on a beeper: I never implemented sound capabilities in the program. This is the same as for all the other Karel-the-robot "clones" that I know of. "Balise" might be an appropriate translation/adaptation. Feel free to use it and make the other required changes as you see fit. Regards, André.

Conan, Thanks for your offer to help. I have added you as a developer to the project. I must admit to have (temporarily I hope) lost the drive to work on rur-ple. There are a few things on my todo list before I can release the 1.0 final. If you ever need to contact me directly, feel free to write me at my gmail address; my user name is my full name (no accent) separated by a dot...

Thank you for doing this. As for Guido van Robot getting more attention: it is older and it has been ported to the OLPC (by its main developer). I had plans to port first Crunchy then Rur-ple to the OLPC ... but have decided not to do so given the change of direction of the OLPC project.

  • Nice app.

Hi- I just tried clonedigger on Crunchy - it found 62 duplicates (using the default configuration) of which about 5 to 10 should lead to some useful refactoring. So, I just wanted to thank you for making this program available. André Roberge.

  • Followup: RE: .deb package for rur-ple

I should have added: 1. the issue with the splash screen used to occur on other platforms when the delay for showing the splash screen was too short. The splash screen is probably not needed so your fix is fine. 2. "rur-ple" was the official name ... but I didn't think I could use "-" in directory names, hence the reason why I used "rurple" for the sourceforge...

  • Followup: RE: .deb package for rur-ple

Thanks for doing this. I can't test it (as I don't run a linux box) but will certainly make use of it in the next release. Unfortunately, it does not look like I'll be able to do much in the near future. Thanks again, André.

  • Followup: RE: Segfault on SUSE 10.0

Regarding the segfault on Ubuntu: What version of rur-ple? (the latest version should have fixed any problem) What version of wxPython? (perhaps it does not work with a newer version; I believe the last one was 2.8 unicode (not ansi)) Did you change default language when you used it first? (This caused some problems in earlier versions). It might be easier to get answers by direct...

As far as I know, it would not be any more difficult than any other multiple-file package. You are the first one to mention this. If you'd like to do it, it would be appreciated.
