At first, there are Patches in Tracker.
At second, I've tried to do the same in the patch 1808723 Support Ctrl+Mouse Wheel. If you're interested, I'll be glad to compare our solutions [you can either send in your patch or just e-mail it to me]. Note: my patch applies to a quite old version, so you might need to do some conflict resolution.

This is just a pointer. As discussed in http://code.google.com/p/msysgit/issues/detail?id=232 you can try one of the following:
a) run
git config --system core.autocrlf=false
and see if it helps;
b) import your repo with cygwin git and then use msysGit to work with it
c) copy your repo to a public svn hosting, convert to git, drop the public svn hosting.

you are absolutely correct. But let me clarify the scenario a little bit.
1. You set up a git repo on SF
2. One clones the official repo
3. One sets up a fork on github (or repo.or.cz; or her home computer)
4. You commit to the official repo
5. One commits to the fork
6. One pulls from the official repo, merges and pushes to the fork

Although I have a biased opinion, but I'd rather see Git used by Windows users [pushing me to push Cheetah].
It's true that Git GUI is not as "familiar" as Tortoise*, but it's nevertheless very very usable. And with recent addition of Add all files and citool to Cheetah's menu by Christian MICHON, it's even closer to be the best SCM UI ever ;)

the issue is that the search box, you usually type in, is for the Start Menu and not for %PATH%.
So, you can add Console to the Start Menu as follows:
1. Left-click the Start button
2. Right-click on All Programs and select "Open". A normal Explorer window should open, showing just one folder - "Programs".

Hi,
if you go to Console Settings -> Tabs, what you see in the Shell group are two fields: Shell and Startup dir.
So, when you configure a tab, you can specify which shell app you want to open (or leave blank to open %comspec%) and where you want its startup folder be (or leave blank to use whatever Windows finds appropriate).
For example, I have three tabs:

However, the only other place I saw it's done is http://repo.or.cz (Petr allows anonymous to push to mob branch). And it's still marked as "experimental" feature.
