Hey folks,

after playing around with the emulator from the Android SDK on Friday I suddenly had the need to own such a smartphone?! So looking around, comparing several models - wanting a low cost phone first to try out Android.

• China phones? Really cheap (70 EUR upwards), most of them have a TV tuner (!), Android 2.2, Wifi and a pleasable CPU. Delivery would take up to 1 month... Not sure if I would be able to send it back if broken. No 3G? Resistive Touchscreen?? VGA camera??? Shit, even beaten by my old Nokia E65...
• HTC Sensation/Evo/\[replace expensive smartphone\] - even though a small car is much heavier that those phones, it can be some cheaper -.- Additionally I like smaller phones more, to use the phone with only one hand.
• LG Optimus ME. Most features you would expect (GPS, Wifi, 3G, capacitive touchscreen, ...), as low as at 120 € (amazon), but I would spend more money on a phone with better CPU and screen!
• Samsung Galaxy Ace/Gio: Nearly the same quality, perfect screen size and resolution, but Ace has better camera (5 MP vs. 3) and is more expensive.

So I took the Samsung Galaxy Gio for 162 EUR from amazon, so I could easily send it back if it doesn't fit my expectations...... read more
