    Dear Judicandus,

We are a group of students from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. We are interested in usability evaluation of FreeMind in order to find aspects to improve in the application.

The FreeMind project administrator knows our proposal.

We need FreeMind's users to evaluate usability. We would like to know if you want to participate in the usability evaluation.

    Best regards,
    John

    Hi Judicandus,

    Thanks for your interest.

We are currently in the initial phase: planning how we will conduct the evaluation.

    Hi Judicandus,

We started with the usability evaluation of FreeMind. To this end, we are sending a small survey of 10 questions for assessing the perceived usability for FreeMind's users.

We appreciate your participation in this survey and look forward to your reply before October 31.

    Best Regards,
    John

    Hi Judicandus,

Continuing with the usability evaluation, we are planning to make a direct observation using FreeMind and a short interview. The duration of these activities is about 30 or 40 minutes.

The tools required to perform these two activities are:

TeamViewer sharing the screen of your computer to observe your interaction with FreeMind. We will use skype to interact.

The direct observation day we will send you the description of the task that you must carry out. This description is composed of a series of steps that must be performed with FreeMind. The goal is not to evaluate the speed doing the task, the goal is to evaluate the usability of FreeMind.

The schedule available for this usability evaluation are as follows (time Madrid - Spain):

Week from 2 to 6 December
    - Monday, 2 December: from 16:00 to 20:00
    - Tuesday, 3 December: from 16:00 to 20:00
    - Thursday 5 December: from 16:00 to 20:00
    - Friday 6 December: from 16:00 to 20:00

This schedule is the same for the week of 9 to 13 December.

Can you please indicate date and time you can perform such activities.

    Best Regards,
    John

    Hi Judicandus,

    Happy New Year!!

We continue this year with the observations. These observations are important because they help us improve FreeMind.

The observation day we will send you the description of the task that you must carry out. The goal is not to evaluate the speed doing the task, the goal is to evaluate the usability of FreeMind.

We encourage you to participate in the observations. We remember that the observation takes about 30 to 40 minutes.

Thanks in advance for your participation.

    Best Regards,
    John

    Hi John,

I'm on vacation until the 15 of february so I won't be necessarily using Freemind until I have to go back to studying.
I could maybe simulate the usage with some past subject I had or some other information I could put into mindmaps. Would that be enough?

Sorry for not answering to the previous messages. End of year is always a difficult time (exams + holidays).

    Hi Judicandus,

    Thanks for your rapid reply.

The observation will be made based on a predefined task by us. The observation day we will send you the description of the task that you must carry out. The task consists of a series of steps that must be performed. In this way we will simulate using FreeMind.

We want to know what schedule you have available to make such an observation. Please specify your city and country to calculate the time difference with Madrid (Spain).

    Best Regards,
    John
