5 SIGSEGV at startup - ID: 999729
Last Update: Comment added ( mannahusum )

When compiled with gconf backend, BMP can crash at startup.

I don't have a triggering scenario for this bug sorry.

However i could dig a bit, and it seems this is due to
the gconf backend because the SIGSEGV happens only
after some runs (i can't say how many, sorry), and if i
"rm -rf" my gconf dir, bmp starts fine again when gconf
populates the gconf dir from the default xml schemas.

The same thing happens to me, and I hope it happens for the same reason.

I've got a tracedump including most symbols I'd like to add. Unfortunately
I don't really understand it.

I had a similar problem. This has something to do with the
dependency. Make sure you sync the news portage tree. Then
do a "emerge --update --deeep world" or "emerge --update
--deep beep-media-player".

I have a similar problem. I emerged beep in gentoo, using
the gconf backend.

However, even when I rm my gconf dir, the player will open
for several seconds, then close at random.

Sys specs:

Vidalinux Desktop 1.1, with kernel 2.6.10-r6
Fluxbox as a WM
