Hi!
As much as I like gallery, every time I access it I
think about
how nice it would be to have all the user management in
my LDAP directory and do all the grouping of people,
defining which people are admins and the password
synchronization
where I do the same stuff for most of my other
applications.
Also the E-mail addresses and people names would be
fetched from the LDAP dir to prevent different spelling
a.s.o

Like WebCalendar (sourceforge.net project) and also in
php, I
think that their way of configuring the appl to either
use LDAP, NIS or the builtin (mysql) database works
well for me.

This would really be great.

Date: 2005-05-01 00:06 Sender: andy_st Logged In: YES user_id=942712 Authentication: ---------------------- - we should add a generic pluggable authentication into G2, i.e. for LDAP. - when a user logs in, it's checked whether it's authentication method is from LDAP, and if so, the authentication request is directed against the LDAP directory User (Data) / Group Management: ----------------------------------------------- i guess we will have to copy the the group memberships and user data from ldap to G2 (performance, simplicity). i.e. when something in G2 is changed, events would change it in LDAP too. but the other direction is up to periodic synchronization or to other tools to monitor ldap changes.
