adobe premiere pro currently supports aaf format but
has stripped support of edl's. while it's great to be
able to produce finish quality video from the desktop
there are situations which are not conducive to this
idea. i (and i'm sure many others) work with large
libraries of older materials (stock footage, file
footage). constant updating of these materials to new
formats is not cost effective. it is much cheaper and
more efficient to online those materials from tape at
an outside house. it would be extremely useful to be
able to take premiere's aaf file and generate an edl
from it that could be used for on lining from these
types of tapes (beta, digibeta, 3/4", whatever uses
timecode as its locating medium).
