Tracker: Support Requests

9 Abandoned project takeover: jvirus - ID: 852377
Last Update: Comment added ( pat )

I would like to submit my project for hosting on SourceForge.net based on
the following information. It is my understanding that the UNIX name I
selected is currently in use (either by another active project, a deleted
project, or by an "on-hold" project). This Tracker item has been
autogenerated by the Project Registration system
(https://sourceforge.net/register/) on SourceForge.net.

The settings (priority, assignee, etc.) of this request should not be
changed except by SourceForge.net staff. A response to this inquiry should
be provided by SourceForge.net staff within 5 business days (the
SourceForge.net team works at least Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm
Pacific, excepting holidays). Should you need to inquire regarding the
status of this project takeover request, please add a comment to this
Support Request.

5. Public description: JVirus is a small .jar file virus written in Java.

6. Registration description: Dears,

JVirus is small .jar file virus written in Java. It is a kind of research
virus : it does not harm the computer it is run on, and it is very easy to
control. It shows viruses can be written in Java as well. It is a proof of
concept.

It does not harm the computer it is run on : it only tries to spread,
through the filesystem. It is very easy to control : it only tries to
propagate in the current directory.

I think a virus written in Java is something rare enough to be published on
SourceForge.net!

JVirus is written in standard Java code, so it should work on any
computer/OS. It does not make use of external libraries.

A complete documentation will be provided about it and about viruses in
general.

Kind regards,

...

Given it's small size and limited scope...I think it might
make better sense on our code snippet library. .
