5 source tarball snapshots are unversioned - ID: 832148
Last Update: Comment added ( robbat2 )

The only link provided to the source tarballs is:
http://sdcc.sourceforge.net/snapshots/sdcc.src/sdcc.src
.tar.gz

Could you please version them and keep the old versions
so that it can be packaged for inclusion in Gentoo Linux.
(see http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24709)

The source tarball now has a date in it's name. It doesn't
make sense to keep old snapshot archives. We'll keep the
source of official releases instead.

Sorry about the lack of response, but your comment does not
resolve the issue. I know the files in
http://sdcc.sourceforge.net/snapshots/sdcc.src/ are daily
snapshots, I'm simply looking for the filename to contain the
version/date stamp. eg:
http://sdcc.sourceforge.net/snapshots/sdcc.src/sdcc.src-
20040201-x86-linux2.cf.sourceforge.net.tar.gz

The simple reason for this is that when subsequent versions
are released, and users only have the file, it's a lot easier to
look at the filename and identify what version the source
tarball is.

Priority 5 is more than enough, please don't raise it.

The source tarball at
http://sdcc.sourceforge.net/snapshots/sdcc.src/ is a _daily_
_snapshot_ from CVS. You can build your own version from
the contents of the file '.version' inside the archive and the
date of the archive.

The source from the last release is available at:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=599

Moreover you can export anything you like from CVS. And
there's a realistic chance, that I'll make a release even this
year :-)

HTH, Bernhard
