6 use netjuke mysql database for info - ID: 799529
Last Update: Comment added ( johanwalles )

The open source netjuke project
(http://netjuke.sourceforge.net/) has good utilities for
reading in idv3 mp3 information, and does good
streaming when you're away from home. Using mserv,
I'm finding that the mp3 information from a significant
number of items doesn't get read (but does get read by
netjuke). The database approach with netjuke also has
some advantages. It'd be great to see these two
efforts brought together.

If somebody still cares about this, FairDJ's song metadata
extraction code is far superior to MServ's. FairDJ uses the
exact same database format for users, songs and ratings.
FairDJ also has the same wire protocols as MServ.:

Patch #1159562 significantly addresses mserv's failure to collect ID3 tag

information from MP3s.
