5 Integrate plugins from WhereIsIt into ML - ID: 769505
Last Update: Comment added ( nobody )

WhereIsIt catalog/filelib software (
http://www.whereisit-soft.com/ ) has plenty of
(Windows-based) plugins for working with many types of
files/indexing many types of files.

Some of these plugins are opensource.

This would add a great amount of capabilities to ML.

Maybe even a catalog converter!

I file this idea as one of the most nteresting & original
the ML project has seen... but ambitious as well ;)

I believe those plugins may provide over the original model
as well new model concepts as more GUIs & new data
processing algorithm. Henceforth, in order to be able to use
wii plugins, ML should be able to interface with wii model
at API level, but provide a wii GUI emulation layer as well !

Doing so may prove possible though, as long as ml-wii api
level interactions don't slow too much the app.

Maybe re-implementing the most interesting wii plugins is a
faster & more efficient solution. We should take a closer
look at the available wii plugins' functionnalities to
answer this question.

M.

To be more exact:

ML could use these plugins using their compiled form.

E.g., either first or second way might be used:

1) enduser copies a plugin's exe/dll/other files into some ML's
directory, ML detects it, and then uses.

2) enduser chooses ML's ~"WIT plugin import" function,
imports a WIT plugin, and then ML will work with a plugin.

These "plugin's exe/dll/other files" could be downloaded from
WIT's site.
