Can't use strings - ID: 757469

I'm having a hard time using strings.
I write the string to the sign, and it appears to accept
it, but when a message is displayed calling that string it
is just blank.
Great program by the way, was exactly what I was
looking for. Working on an asp page to manage the sign.
