5 Ports to open on a router? - ID: 685743
Last Update: Comment added ( nobody )

I'm interested in using this program across the internet.
I have a router, but I do not know which ports to open for
the software to work...

Can someone please tell me which ports I need to open
so that the software won't be blocked by my
router/firewall?

Thanks,

Mad_Martigan

Thanks for your reply, but I've tried to open both 6073, 2302
and 2303 ports, about TCP and UDP... And, unfortunately, it
remains the same : station B receives call from station A
since it displays "Incoming call" in the status bar, but some
seconds after station A displays a message box
saying "Remote host is unreachable or doesn't run VACC
instance".

Some more ideas ? Do I have missed something ?

My router config sounds like this at this time :
**********************************

Virtual Servers :
---------------
Private IP and Port / Type / Public Port
192.168.2.3 / 6073 / TCP / 6073
192.168.2.3 / 6073 / UDP / 6073
192.168.2.3 / 2302 / TCP / 2302
192.168.2.3 / 2302 / UDP / 2302

Special App (as per SMC7004ABR terminology) :
---------------------------------------------
Trigger Port / Trigger Type / Public Port / Public Type
6073 / TCP / 6073 / TCP
6073 / UDP / 6073 / UDP
2302 / TCP / 2302 / TCP
2302 / UDP / 2302 / UDP
2303 / TCP / 2303 / TCP
2303 / UDP / 2303 / UDP

Soon and thanks again for your efforts

Eric

Actually you must also open port 2303 which is used by a
client to connect to a host.

Try opening both 2302 and 2303

Hi,

On my side, I'm interested too to use VACC through a
broadband router (SMC7004ABR).

Reading this thread, I've tried to create virtual server on both
6073 and 2302 as UDP and TCP (even if surely useless) as
this :

Private IP and Port / Type / Public Port
--------------------------------------
192.168.2.3 / 6073 / TCP / 6073
192.168.2.3 / 6073 / UDP / 6073
192.168.2.3 / 2302 / TCP / 2302
192.168.2.3 / 2302 / UDP / 2302

Well, from this point, VACC's call seems to reach the remote
VACC (display "incoming call..."), but return seems to be not
successful since connection aborts.

Then, I've tried to declare these two port on a router's
feature called "Special Application" (I've copied the help about
this below*) like this :

Trigger Port / Trigger Type / Public Port / Public Type
---------------------------------------------------
6073 / TCP / 6073 / TCP
6073 / UDP / 6073 / UDP
2302 / TCP / 2302 / TCP
2302 / UDP / 2302 / UDP

And... Same result :-( Well, I'm a little bit on the fog ;-)
Could you drive me toward the right way ?

Thanks for your advice in advance

*What 'Special Application' means for the SMC7004ABR
-----------------------------------------------------
"Some applications require multiple connections, such as
Internet gaming, video conferencing, Internet telephony and
others. These applications cannot work when Network
Address Translation (NAT) is enabled. If you need to run
applications that require multiple connections,-specify the
port normally associated with an application in the "Trigger
Port" field, select the protocol type as TCP or UDP, then enter
the public ports associated with the trigger port to open them
for inbound traffic."

You have to open the DPNSVR port 6073 and the VACC port
which is usually 2302, but if there are other applications
using this port, VACC will use the next sequential port
number available (for example, 2303)
