Visual Basic Binding of ZOOM Z39.50 API

Another problem I have discovered may actually be with
the MARC record structure used by the melvyl.ucop.edu
Z39.50 server. It seems to use the record terminator
(RT) character between some fields instead of the
correct field terminator (FT) character. Currently, my
MARC parser is very strict, but it looks like I will
have to loosen some of its error checking. It seems
that other MARC parsers treat this as a warning instead
of a strict error. I will be doing the same in the
next release of VB-ZOOM which should be in a week or two.

I downloaded and installed the XML package. I no longer
get the
"Activex..." error. However, I do get the VBZoom "MARC
Terminator..." error when connecting to Melvyn. The
test program
works properly.
